Our Story
We love animals and we've always had a large "family". Our family began with Scupper a golden retriever. He was, as my brother-in law say's, "the greatest dog that ever lived". We then adopted Cassie our first Labrador. She was Scuppers companion and a real sweetheart. At age 7, unfortunately, we found out she was diabetic. She required insulin twice a day as well as a special diet. We were determined to keep our little girl feeling normal. About a year later because of the diabetes, Cassie developed cataracts and lost her eyesight. We opted to have her sight restored by having her cataracts removed and new lenses inserted. It was a smashing success. Our family then grew to three with Cinnamon, a Springer Spaniel, and a real mush. Then along came, Harry, our cockatiel and soon after, Yago our first Eclectus Parrot. We soon rescued a Labrador Retriever, Milo, who also developed diabetes. Boy, what were the odds of that happening? Our second Black Labrador with Diabetes. He currently receives insulin twice a day. With age he has lost his eyesight. We call him our grandpa because even with his handicap and age he is extremely active. Brie, our Golden retriever loves to swim. Yes, we put in a pool just for her. She also loves to do agility. Brie was also a "working dog". While I was teaching, she loved to go to work with me every day. Now she enjoys daily walks with Mom. The last two members of our family are Figaro, another Eclectus Parrot (who is quite the talker and loves to eat pizza, pasta, peas and macaroni and cheese) and Shannon, the ultimate mushy Springer Spaniel.
We became involved in pet sitting because of Milo, our canine senior who requires special attention. Due to the loss of his eyesight he does not like to be away from the security of his home and he has become less tolerant of being boarded. A Pet Sitter helped him remain secure in the familiar surroundings of his own home while we were away. This is what its all about. A service that provides you the freedom to do what you need to do while maintaining the safety and security of your pet with a loving caregiver in your home.
